In July 2022 representatives of SOB & MAHNA were notified that the skatepark in Easterwood Park would not be moving forward in favor of “overall” park improvements.

On behalf of the Skatepark of Baltimore and Marvin Doc Cheatum, we again are humbly requesting an in-person meeting in the next two weeks with Mayor Scott, City Councilmember Torrence, State Senator Hayes, Director Moore, and members of his team, with the goal of putting this project back on track to follow through with the promise to construct a public concrete skatepark in Easterwood Park, while simultaneously making additional park improvements.

We were challenged to find 10 supporters who live within two blocks of the park and told we couldn’t do it within 24hours. That challenge was accepted and quickly surpassed. Community volunteers, who live around Easterwood Park got over 200 signatures in just 2 hours all in the Easterwood and surrounding communities, including over 70 within a two-block radius of the proposed location for the skatepark.

Please, let’s come together around solutions. There is enough money and room for all of us. The community wants this skatepark, along with long neglected overall improvements. This time next year we could be celebrating together around our common goal to improve Easterwood park and provide more equitable access to recreational opportunities.
